Performance Health / Hygenic Corporation Donates Biofreeze Pain Reliever to US Troops

Performance Health / Hygenic Corporation has made a donation of Biofreeze Pain Reliever, at a retail value of $1.2 million, to SupportOurTroops.Org. Donations to Support Our Troops are used to bring aid and comfort to US troops in the field.

New Thera-Band® and Biofreeze® Products for 2010

I hope everyone is having a great New Year. I wanted to start off 2010 by announcing several new Thera-Band® and Biofreeze® products.

New Thera-Band Latex Free Professional Resistance Bands

Newly-formulated to match the pull forces of our existing Latex Professional Resistance Bands, these new latex free bands are ideal in hospital settings or with patients suffering latex allergies. The new formula is also powder-free and scent-free. Available in 25 yard rolls or in pre-cut lengths in beginner (Thera-Band Yellow, Thera-Band Red & Thera-Band Green) and advanced (Thera-Band Black and Thera-Band Blue) kits. Thera-Band Active Recovery Kits

3 new kits, which include both Thera-Band products and Biofreeze® Pain Relieving Spray, have been developed to facilitate home exercise programs with pain relief. The General Rehab & Pain Relief kits contain 2 levels of Thera-Band Professional Resistance Bands, while the Shoulder Rehab & Pain Relief kit includes the new Thera-Band Shoulder Pulley and a Thera-Band Yellow latex band in addition to the Biofreeze Spray. Biofreeze Gel with Hands-Free Applicator and Biofreeze Wipes

There are 2 new Biofreeze products for 2010. First, we’ve added a hands-free applicator tip to the original 4 oz tube of Biofreeze gel. This helps patients apply gel without getting it on their hands.

We have also created Biofreeze Wipes. These new wipes contain high-potency Biofreeze to provide maximum intensity pain relief. Best of all, they are convenient for travel and use ‘on the go’.

In addition, we’ve recently updated the Biofreeze PEP brochure many healthcare providers have been using. In addition, we’ve created a new “Build Your Practice” brochure to help practitioners learn how to use Biofreeze to build their practices. Finally, we have a new booklet explaining the science and mechanisms for Biofreeze topical analgesic. You can download any of these resources at the Biofreeze web portal under “Essentials of Biofreeze”.

New ”Where to Buy” Thera-Band or Biofreeze Locator

Finally, we’ve recently launched a “Where to Buy” Locator that helps patients find practitioners selling Thera-Band and Biofreeze Products; the link is available on the left navigation of the Academy. Hands-on healthcare providers who sell Thera-Band or Biofreeze products can enter their practice information in the searchable database.

Biofreeze helps climbers in the Andes mountains fight prostate cancer

Each year since 2001, a group of men and women convene to climb mountains around the world to help raise awareness about prostate cancer. This year, Tom Hyde, DC from Miami, Florida participated in the annual climb. The group went to Ecuador to attempt a summit of 19,347 feet Cotapaxi, a volcano in the Andes. Dr. Hyde has used Biofreeze and Thera-Band products for over 15 years and has participated on the Thera-Band Research Advisory Board for the last 4 years. He utilizes Biofreeze and Thera-Band when teaching his workshop, Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab, Provocation and Motion (FAKTR-PM).

The Prostate Awareness Foundation (PAF) offers information, support, and education about the treatment options available to those with prostate cancer. The objective is to lessen the trauma, impact, problems, and depression associated with the disease, and to encourage proactive responsibility for one’s own healing. PAF also offers information to those with a family history of prostate cancer who wish to take a preventative approach to the disease.

Biofreeze® is better than ice for neck pain

Bart Bishop, DPT of Sport and Spine Rehab in Rockville, Maryland compared Biofreeze® topical analgesic and ice application to patients with bilateral neck pain. Bishop stated, “We’ve used both ice and Biofreeze in our neck patients, but never had any evidence to support using one versus the other.” He found that both modalities reduced pain significantly, but patients preferred the Biofreeze application 8 to 1 compared to ice. The Biofreeze treatment lasted longer in 9 out of 10 patients, with twice as much pain reduction compared to ice. “Now that we know how effective Biofreeze is, we are going to continue including it as a standard treatment for neck pain patients and start investigating its effectiveness in other patient populations. We also think that using Biofreeze can help improve patient compliance and retention as so many more of them felt comfortable with the treatment.” Dr. Bishop presented his findings at the TRAC 2009 meeting in Cancun, Mexico.
