Thera-Band Research Advisory Committee meets in Athens, Greece

The 12th annual Thera-Band® Research Advisory Committee (TRAC) meeting was held July 19-21, 2009 in Athens, Greece. 15 international researchers and clinicians met for 3 days to present and discuss research on Thera-Band® and Biofreeze® products. The diverse international group included physical therapists, occupational therapist, chiropractors, massage therapists, and university professors. TRAC members presented 19 research projects on a variety of topics from EMG to clinical outcomes. “We have been committed to supporting evidence-based practice for over a decade. Our TRAC research helps professionals understand not only how effective our products are, but also how to best utilize them in practice.” said Phil Page, PhD, PT ATC, Director of Education and Research. The mission of the Thera-Band Academy is to support research, education, and practice. “By having a diverse group of professionals in TRAC, they are able to provide a great blend of clinical and research knowledge, as well as different points of view from various disciplines and cultures,” added Page. “I’m not aware of any other manufacturer who has this type of group to support evidence-based practice with their products.” Download the research proceedings from the TRAC meeting here.

Announcing the Thera-Band® 2010 Innovation Challenge

Akron, Ohio – August 17, 2010 – Performance Health / Hygenic Corporation has launched the Thera-Band 2010 Innovation Challenge, a unique and creative program that enables healthcare professionals to propose new product ideas that could innovate their industry. Plus, through their participation they could generate funding for their industry’s association.

“Our success as a company is based on the success of the rehab professionals we serve. They have always been a source of great ideas to improve outcomes. The original idea behind the Thera-Band resistance band was actually brought to us by two physical therapists back in 1975. They were using our bulk dental dam product to enhance the effectiveness of their patients’ rehabilitation programs and wanted us to develop additional resistance levels,” stated Ethan Pochman, Director of Marketing and Clinical Solutions. “We hope this challenge uncovers some great new products for the profession, while generating funds for three very worthwhile organizations. We think it will be a lot of fun too.”

Program Overview:
