Thera-Band seminars and training in Latin America
The Thera-Band Academy supports education and research around the world. We currently have over 250 international speakers registered in our Academy who can post their seminars, workshops and courses featuring Thera-Band and Biofreeze products.
Dr. Phil Page, Director of Thera-Band Academy recently completed several Thera-Band seminars in Guatemala City and Santiago, Chile. He presented a full-day workshop at the “Innovations in Rehabilitation” conference to 170 physical therapists and sports trainers in Guatemala City. Check out the photos on our Facebook page.
The following week, Dr. Page had several Thera-Band lectures in Santiago at universities and schools including Las Americas University, Pedro de Valdiva University, Catholic University Clinic, and Los Colhuen Clinic. The lectures focused on the scientific application of elastic resistance and proprioceptive training.
One of his presentations at the Universidad Pedro de Valdivia to 60 students and faculty from the School of Kinesiology (physical therapy) was featured on the University’s website. Below is a translation of the article.
School of Kinesiology organizes workshop on rehabilitation and sports
On Tuesday October 25, Campus Tobalaba, Physical Therapist Dr. Phil Page presented a workshop on the elastic bands, “Thera-Band”, which updated the physiological and technical basis for the use of this equipment.
Dr. Page explained to students the endurance, resistance, stress, force curve, and importance of the length of the band. “This equipment will not only rehabilitate their patients, but also allows for routine exercises like working with weights. It is a tool that has multiple functions, “he said.
Subsequently, Dr. Page invited the students to work with their band to improve posture, range of motion, muscle strengthening, stretching, relaxation, and activation of reflexes, among others. He explained, “Bands are made of latex, which allows its use and benefits to be unlimited, which helps rehabilitate injuries, improve functional ability in older adults, enhance sports performance and aid in the treatment of many chronic diseases”
Other items that were presented in the Thera-Band system included exercise tubing, Soft Weights, FlexBars, Stability Trainers and balance boards, among others. All low-tech tools designed to improve the quality of life of bedridden patients with neurological damage and other related diseases.
